Meet the Cast & Crew: Eric Calbat
How did you get started working with TurtleDove Films?
Started acting in high school. When it came time decide my major for college, I couldn't think of anything else I would rather do than train myself to be a better actor. My only thought was to focus on acting, and let the rest fall into place. The more time on spent on set, the more I realized I was curious as to how the mechanics of filming worked. Luckily I have great friends at TurtleDove who have given me the opportunity to both act, and learn how to be a producer, camera assistant, and much more.
How did you first get involved in the movie?
TurtleDove as a whole has been waiting for Duncan Coe to spit out a magical baby we call a Feature Film script. As soon as I heard the first draft was finished, I called TD and said I had to be a part of it. They said maybe. Not really, they said that I was always welcome to be on their set.
When did you move to Austin, and how is it different from when you first moved here?
Moved from San Marcos after attending Texas State University about 8 years ago. The price of living here has really increased.
What do you think about crowdfunding on Seed&Spark so far? Best parts? Worst parts?
I think it's a great platform that helps the little guy get an idea off the ground. Easily accessible for social media. No complaints.
What is your favorite form of art and why?
Tough call, art has so many forms. Raw talent is always great, but to see anybody train, and put in the work is amazing to watch. Concerts, live plays, dance, it's all good to me as long as the heart is there.
If you could make everyone but one other person disappear, who would you keep around?
Gonna go with either my girlfriend, or my kiddo.
